They are used to obtain whole blood or EDTA plasma samples and are available in a variety of sizes.

They can be easily identified by their lavender coloured Hemogard safety closure cap.

Each evacuated sterile vacutainer contains an anticoagulant of K2 Potassium salt of EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid) which is a liquid solution that has been spray coated onto the interior surface of the tube.
